Dot.com Documentary

On Thursday in class, we could watch how a company was able to develop online called Govworks.com by Kalil and Tom. Kalil and Tom had been friends throughout high school and were always dreaming of building a company together so they came up with paying tickets online such as parking tickets, speeding tickets, or any infraction on the road. They started the company as well another investor King who invested 17,000 dollars so there were three invested people total. The company started with 8 employees in May and by August the company grew by 30 people. At first, it was very difficult since they were in search of other companies to invest as well. Highland being one of the first ones was going to be a big break for them although they seemed to be controlling already even without signing the contract so Govworks passed on that. Four months passed and King decided to resign from the company since he had a career still intact plus his shares had grown from $17,000 to 1.2 million although he wanted cash. He took the offer of $700,000 and left the company. In October, the company grew to 70 employees and by January 120 people. By April the company had grown to a total of 200 employees and a month later a whopping 230 people. Everything was going very well for the company until there was a robbery in the office where they took Kalil's computer and important law files at approximately 3:21am where there were assumptions that someone in the company did it since they knew where the security cameras and files were now. As more time passed, Tom was starting to feel like a disturbance than a Co-Ceo so he decided to resign and get his share of the company which was 50%. Kalil gave him a termination notice and security escorted him out of the building. Six months later the company dropped down to 50 employees. Then the company went through financial bankruptcy then crashed to zero. Both Tom and Kalil remained friends even though they went through that tough time. At the end, it just shows how a company can be worth millions then back to zero at the end.
