My Experience Making My Web Page with HTML

This is my simple web page with html. This was probably one of the toughest challenges I have encountered in my life. Well I do not want to exaggerate, but I am not a really tech savvy person when it comes to making an html page. The instructions were very helpful in the making of my page. I desperately called one of my closest friends who is a computer science major to give me some advice on making the html and told me to download a program instead of using notepad on my mac to make the experience easier and understandable. I also used YouTube as well which really helped me a lot since I found very useful videos on making my html page. Nonetheless this was great overall because the whole point of growing is to feel uncomfortable in your own space yet this will help my educational career with technology. My best friend taught me a valuable lesson…to not assume that computer science majors are experts in the web or overall IT which made me think that it is an assumption for people to think that computer science majors know everything about technology, but that is not the case. This was fun and hope to make better progress in class and hope to apply all my skills to the real world. Other than that, if I get more complicated homework like this I might just have to call my best friend for help anyways regardless if he says the whole , “I am not your go to”! Adriana’s Page

The Similarities and Differences Between Mail and Email

I have been using both email and mail my whole life even to this day. I use mail today because I send very personal letters to my Step-Dad who has been in prison since 2009 and will be released in 2018. I have been writing to him for eight years now and writing letters is therapeutic and organic where one can feel every word being written. I can't send emails to my Step-Dad because he does not have the privilege to use technology while in prison. One difference between both mail and email is the time being delivered where mail can take at least a few days where email takes seconds to deliver. Writing letters has been used for a very long time where penmanship, history, and time is recorded. Yet documents can get lost like paper because of how natural causes can affect the loss, damage, and displacement. Mail can completely disappear whereas email is recorded and it will most likely not get lost because it can be found in the networks, files, internet, and software. Even if one tries to dispose of emails to the garbage one can still retrieve them from the garbage because we can now control our email and settings. Emails can be used as evidence when needed and so can mail, but like I said what if it gets lost, sometimes mail doesn't even have the chance to land in its destination because of accidents into processing to different mail carriers. Not to mention how post offices are not the only ones delivering if not other companies like UPS and FEDEX where these companies can deliver all types of delivery yet there are restrictions such as weapons, liquids, or other harmful objects. As for email, one can send all types of email like pictures, files, download, and much more. One can even send scams and viruses that can harm one's computer intrude privacy and other personal information. Mail costs money to cause harm to people in various ways where email is free most of the time where one only needs access to wifi or internet where it is free and accessible as well in many places.

What I Want to Get out of TINST 207

After successfully finishing my junior year here at University of Washington I can say that this year will only get much more challenging after being admitted in the GIS (geography information system) certificate program for my urban studies major to become skilled into understanding spatial analysis, data, and cartographic design which can enhance my chances to getting a competitive career in community planning. I should be honest, I have not been too updated with technology lately and I would love to take this opportunity to ask all the questions I need to succeed in the class as well as apply it to my major and certificate. Technology is what I live on every day to communicate with my friends, family members, classmates, work, and all aspects of my life technology is there for me to use to the fullest. I am surrounded by amazing technology and spend too much money on the latest products although I feel that I am not getting my money's worth. When I took urban economics last quarter I felt that I should have taken an econ 101 class to have a basic understanding of the material and the overall outcome of my grade and learning would have been much better. For my education, it is crucial that not only that I pass the class, but also apply all the skills that were taught to me so I took the initiative to take this class to be prepared for the GIS program to show my professor the best work I can produce and show it to the real world in community planning. Taking this class will prepare me for a brighter future especially as a Latina woman that represents her community with pride.
